Webinar Description:
Join us this Pride Month for a panel discussion with two LGBTQ+ youth peer leaders, Laura Yakas and Zenni Muhammad. Laura Yakas (she/her) is a lecturer and researcher who has written and taught extensively on intersections of madness and queerness. Zen Q “Zenni” Muhammad (ze/they/he) is a peer support advocate at HCRS playing a key role in developing a program for youth who are experiencing mental health challenges. During this webinar, the panelists will share their perspectives on the importance of LGBTQ+ youth leadership within mental health services and research, as well as current challenges facing LGBTQ+ youth and ways that peer services can address these challenges. They will also share about the role that intersectionality and other social theories play in their work.
