Webinar Recording Now Available: Sources of Strength

Presenter: Dan Adams

Webinar Description:

In this webinar, Dan Adams will present on Sources of Strength, a best practice, evidence-based youth suicide prevention project that uses trained youth peer leaders to enhance protective factors across an entire school population, producing increased help seeking behaviors & fostering positive peer-to-peer and youth-adult connections. The program originated in North Dakota in 1998, under the direction of the program’s founder, Mark LoMurray, and has since grown to national prominence, with programs implemented across the USA and Canada. Today the program is based in Lakewood, Colorado, and works with more than 2,500+ urban, suburban, rural, and tribal communities across 40 different states and provinces.

The webinar will engage the underlying philosophy behind Sources of Strength, including: radically strength-based approaches to prevention; upstream prevention strategies that focus on building resiliency and increasing overall community wellbeing; network informed suicide prevention that seeks to strengthen social integration and maximize youth-adult connectedness; and and youth leadership strategies that empower youth to use their voice and story to shift the culture and climate of their school and community by spreading messages of hope, help, and strength.
